Snell Street - Amherst
Tall deciduous trees, as well as a deep
roof overhang on the south side,
provide shading in the summer, while
allowing deep winter sunlight into the
main living space to maximize passive
solar heating through the concrete
floor on the ground level. A high
efficiency mechanical system paired
with the SIP exterior walls and roof
(structurally insulated panels) ensure
that the heat produced to keep the house confortable is retained within the incredibly tight thermal envelope.

Durable, low-maintenance finishes, materials, and landscaping are
used to further reduce the energy consumption required by the
house for years to come.
